Pave roads with Toilet Paper?

Pave roads with Toilet Paper?

The city of Littleton, Colo., is using toilet paper to help pave its roads, but things in the Denver suburb aren’t as bad as that sounds.

The Denver Post reports that road workers place the paper on top of the freshly-laid tar that they use to fill cracks in the street to help it set and keep it from sticking to tires and shoes as it dries.

A city spokeswoman tells the newspaper that it lets them reopen the streets much sooner, and keeps the tar from being tracked around town. The biodegradable paper itself dissolves in a couple of days.

Is coconut oil a scam?

Is coconut oil a scam?

Lastly, there’s this idea that if coconut oil can raise your levels of the so-called "good" cholesterol, it could help protect your heart—and that might be a reason to include more of it in your diet. But a new study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology has suggested that HDL may not be as heart-healthy as experts thought. The researchers found that having high HDL did not protect against heart attacks or stroke. And people with the highest levels (over 70 mg/dl) actually had an increased risk of death from non-heart or stroke-related causes compared to those with more middling ranges (about 41 to 60 mg/dl).

The authors of Nutrition Reviews study concluded that there was no evidence that eating coconut oil would improve your cholesterol, or reduce your risk of heart disease. And Dr. Willett told Health pretty much same thing: “There’s really no direct evidence that coconut oil is a healthy fat,” he says.

The bottom line: Coconut oil has some unique flavors, so it’s “reasonable” to use it in special recipes when it’s called for, says Dr. Willett. But since it raises your bad cholesterol levels more than liquid plant oils do, you’re better off cooking with canola, soybean, and olive oils.

Oklahoma speeder caught at 208 mph

Nineteen-year-old Hector Fraire first tripped a radar gun doing 84 mph on the Kilpatrick Turnpike in Oklahoma City, before speeding away as police tried to pull him over.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Fraire’s heavily modified 2011 Ford Mustang was then clocked doing 176 mph and 208 mph, and he tried to elude the chase vehicle by turning off his headlights and brake lights.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman tells FoxNews.com that as the pursuing officer lost contact with the vehicle, he radioed ahead to any units in the area. A Canadian County Deputy sitting in a parking lot spotted the car and was able to intecept it. The driver then pulled over, dropped his keys out of the window, and was arrested and later charged with reckless driving and felony eluding.

Man sentenced to jail after using Cheetos to set ex’s home on fire

These Cheetos definitely were “Flamin’ Hot.”

A 31-year-old man was convicted of malicious destruction of property Wednesday after he went armed with Cheetos to set an ex-girlfriend’s house on fire.

Using the snack to accelerate the fire, Shemroy Williams tried to burn the Taunton, Massachusetts, home down while the woman was inside.
