University to buy $1-million football scoreboard with thrifty librarian’s money, outraging critics

LOL.  What a waste of $4 million.  While I can see the $2.5 million to the student center.  Still that money should come from all donations.  And the $1 million for the scoreboard.  Total waste.  Would have been better off having a few paid scholarships in his name every year, forever.

FIREARMS VANISH
Southern California police say over 300 guns missing

The Orange County Register reported Sunday that an investigation of 134 state and local police agencies from Kern County to the Mexican border showed 329 firearms were lost or stolen and some were involved in crimes.

Some of the lost weapons include Glocks, Sig Sauers, Remington shotguns, rifles and even grenade launchers. The paper reported that officers have treated their weapons in a reckless manner. High-caliber firearms were stowed in backpacks and gym bags, while handguns were hidden in center consoles.

According to the Register, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that at least 103 of the agency’s 20,000 guns were lost or stolen over the last five years. In Hermosa Beach, the police department conducts an annual internal audit of its weapons, and hasn't lost any.

But many agencies don't track their guns.

Maine State Police say they've charged an 18-year-old Manchester man with driving a Dodge Neon at 146 mph on Interstate 95, more than twice the 70 mph speed limit.

Police say 18-year-old Tyler Barrows was stopped in Pittsfield, Maine, on Wednesday and was charged with criminal speeding, a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

How does a Dodge Neon go 146 MPH?
