When the Pro V1 came out I think it was the most lost golf ball on any given course. Weekend hackers would add another 15 yards to the drive into the rough or out of bounds.

Yeah, at the price.  Anyone over a handicap of probably 10 should stay away from Pro V1.  Just not worth the cost.  But man, golf ball prices are so out of control.  I remember buying pro-v1's on sale for $20.  Now they are twice that on sale.  I'd buy the Pro V1's used, but I tried a dozen of the used ones, and with the cover and considering these balls have probably been waterlogged, I lost too much distance.  Actually dumped the balls because I was losing so much distance.  The NXT's used were fine though.  They just don't have the feel as the Pro V1's.

ROAD RAGE KILLING
Boy, 3, shot dead during car ride with grandmother

A 3-year-old boy being taken on a shopping trip by his grandmother was killed in a road rage shooting when a driver opened fire on their car Saturday evening because he thought she "wasn't moving fast enough at a stop sign," police said.

The boy and his grandmother were at the stop sign in southwest Little Rock when a driver apparently angry about the delay stepped out of his car and opened fire, police said. The boy was struck by gunfire at least once, they said.

Police Lt. Steve McClanahan said investigators believe the boy and his grandmother "were completely innocent" and have no relationship with Saturday's shooter, who was being sought. He said the grandmother simply was "driving the car and was taking her grandson shopping when the incident occurred."

Little Rock Police Chief Kenton Buckner told Fox 16 the shooting is a senseless act of violence.

"I certainly have no information to say that anyone in this family has done anything to cause this young person's life but this is about as frustrating as you can be as a public safety official or just a plain citizen," he told the television station.

Police said they were looking for an older black Chevrolet Impala that was being driven by a tall black man. They hadn't released any other description of the man and appealed to the public for help finding him.

FB meme that I'm retyping, no link:

holiday parenting tip- place fake wrapped presents under the tree with your child's name on them. Every time they misbehave, pick up one of the fake presents and toss it into the burning fireplace. They'll straighten right up. You're welcome.

I've been watching her every night during her winning streak knowing that she passed away. She has handled herself with class and humility and is very smart. She is brave to be able to compete under those circumstances.

Sad to watch. Cindy is a champion.

disappearing bridge

china bridge 2

China's scariest bridge yet?

French-born architect Martin Duplantier’s most recent design is not for the faint of heart.

Situated along a walking trail in China’s famed Wulingyuan region (south-center part of the country), the project, which costs around $5 million, consists of bridges, which will appear in midair, spanning a few of the jagged quartzite sandstone columns. The scenery could not be more picturesque, which is why it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992.

Duplantier’s design will make use of such materials as mirrored stainless steel and black stone, which becomes reflective when wet.

This will allow for an optical illusion of sorts, one that reflects all that’s below and above the footbridge, in essence, making it disappear into thin air. One of the bridges has a section meant for only the boldest of visitors, as they will be able to lie down on a strong net, all the while looking straight down at the deep void below.

hector fraire

Speeder caught doing 208 mph

An Oklahoma man is facing up to a year in jail after being caught by police doing 208 mph on a public road at night.

The incident took place in November on the Kilpatrick Turnpike in Oklahoma City, when Hector Fraire was spotted doing 85 mph in a 70 mph zone in his modified blue 2011 Ford Mustang, then reportedly sped up to evade the police car that tried to pull him over.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says he was then clocked at 176 mph and 208 mph and turned off his headlights and brake lights at one point, before finally pulling over for a patrol car that intercepted him at a red light.

Officials told The Oklahoman that Fraire "became really apologetic and stated he ran because he was scared," and described him as a member of a “local racing club.”

Fraire has now been charged in court with reckless driving and attempting to elude a police officer. If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine on the reckless driving count, and a year behind bars and a $2,000 fine for running from the police.

A California man is reportedly prepared to fight a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence after he was pulled over in 2015 and a blood test only showed traces of caffeine in his system.

According to The Guardian, Joseph Schwab was allegedly driving erratically and cut off an officer from the California department of alcoholic beverage control in August 2015 in Solano Country.

Schwab’s attorney Stacey Barrett told the paper that he was given a breathalyzer test which showed that his blood-alcohol content level was at zero percent. A toxicology test also came back negative for drugs. Schwab was booked into county jail.

A Pennsylvania lab that conducted a secondary test provided documents to The Guardian that showed the only thing in Schwab’s system was caffeine.

Schwab’s motion to get the case dismissed was denied and now he’s scheduled for a Jan. 11, 2017 court fight. Solano County deputy district attorney Sharon Henry said the department was still investigating.

“The charge of driving under the influence is not based upon the presence of caffeine in his system,” Henry said in a statement.

BLOODY WEEKEND
More than 40 shot in Chicago, grim milestone hit

Christmas weekend was grim in Chicago even by this year's wretched standards for gun violence: Police say at least 41 people were shot, 11 fatally, between Friday evening and Sunday night, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Chicago Police Department spokesman Jose Estrada tells the New York Times that the number of homicides in the city so far this year is 745, up from 476 at this time last year, and marking the first time since 1997 that there have been more than 700.

He says the total number of shooting victims so far this year is 4,252, up 47% from 2,884 at this time in 2015. Most victims are men under 30.

The number of murders in Chicago this year is on course to top that of Los Angeles and New York City combined.

WTG, Chicago! you're #1, you're #1!!

I don't imagine it'll be too much longer until people in the windy city will need to dress like this go to some areas:
