a friend of mine at church is near 80 and he has the kind that have a tube that goes from the hearing aid to something inside his head. he's had them for several years and they've helped tremendously. he never has a loud ringing sound anymore, for starters.

What happens to hearing aids when the batteries run down?  Do they die abruptly or gradually fade off?  Do the batteries last exactly 7 days? 

 

My cousin told her mom what I said about the TV being louder than ever before.  She got really defensive and blamed it on the hearing aid batteries going dead "because it was Wednesday" when she usually changes the batteries.  She now claims both hearing aids were dead and left in place. 

 

This is not the story she told me last night.  Batteries or dead hearing aids were never mentioned.
