It makes sense to get other countries involved but elections make absolutely no sense. The first thing that has to be done is to write an ironclad constitution that guarantees rights to all the different sects and factions and is backed by the threat of additional intervention. If this doesn't happen then the same tired faces go back into power and all the death and destruction is for nothing.

With Russia now a major player.  Anyone think that Assad and the Kurds could come to some agreement?  Benefits for the Kurds would be, they would get a seat at the table.  Russia wouldn't have to think about taking over that area, and peacefully move in defensive lines.  Including anti aircraft that will keep Turkey at bay.  

 

Then it'll just be time before the Russians and now armed to the teeth Kurds squeeze out the rest of the country.

Haven't you heard, the United States always knows what is right for everyone.  We have our Christian God to give us the right rules to follow and help everyone else.
