How can the Iraq army suck so bad.

I compare this to when Reagin fired all the flight controllers.  Yes they were all replaced.  But the people that replaced them didn't have the experience and it took decades before it got back to before.  some will say that it never got back to the quality it was before.

This is the Iraq army.  They pretty much said anyone that whoever was in the army during Husseins reign need not apply.  Then well, it's like saying hey Marines.  You are all fired.  Gotbeer will now lead the Marines and you cannot use anyone ever associated with the Marines.  The quality of the Marines will go from awesome to a drunken orgy on the population real quick.

It'll be crash and burn time for years.  Because a general doesn't become a general in a few years of crash course training.

The decision to invade aside, I believe the dismissing of their armed forces was the single biggest mistake that will continue to haunt us. Didn't like the decision then, still don't like it now

So many historical things destroyed by ISIS or the Taliban.  That area and parts of Africa will be a cesspool of life for years or decades to come.

All in the while, our immigration issues are nothing compared to what Europe is facing right now.

I wonder at what point Europe will realize that sticking their heads in the sand isn't going to solve anything?  And that the EU will have to mobilize a joint force to take action against ISIS.

White House 'monitoring' reports Russian military is in Syria

Sigh.

"We are aware of reports that Russia may have deployed military personnel and aircraft to Syria, and we are monitoring those reports quite closely," said spokesman Josh Earnest.

"Any military support to the Assad regime for any purpose, whether it's in the form of military personnel, aircraft supplies, weapons, or funding, is both destabilizing and counterproductive."

Russians are going to move in.  Kick ISIS ass all the way to Iraq.  And the US are going to look like fools as Assad and Putin have a victory parade.

This really doesn't bother me. As long as we had troops on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan, I'm fine with letting someone else step in for a while.

This whole situation has continued to anger me. We've let ISIS mushroom into this legitimate, powerful force (we probably helped them by funding Assad's opposition,) we've backed the Saudis for decades even though they have one of the worst human rights records on the entire planet, and we have the audacity to call Turkey one of our allies even though they bomb Kurdish civilians at will. What an absolute disaster in foreign policy. Our so-called friends in that region don't even like us.

What will it take for Americans to finally realize that we are nothing but a bad influence in the Middle East? The only thing we are good at over there are spreading war, death, poverty and destruction. Sure we drop rations from helicopters every now and then but how many thousands of immigrants die trying escape that shithole while our leaders pretend to figure out who needs to be paid off in Baghdad and Damascus to keep the status quo and allow the flow of natural resources to remain stable?

That poor dead kid floating in the water is a direct result of U.S. foreign policy. What a sad joke.
