One of the things I've heard they're going to do is card more cheap turf races. We might see some $8-$10K turf claimers which will increase barn sizes. Not to mention, those are generally very competitive betting races.

@Adam Yup.  Cheaper claimers and even allowance races on the turf will fill a card up quick.  I just hope that they go a two track system, with one track for stakes and high level allowance races, and the inner track for the cheaper races.   That Gulfstream turf track gets really ratty with all the use it gets.  Also they better not touch the downhill track.

That is interesting.

I learned about something Oaklawn and a few other places do. Old Colonial Downs just got approval to do it too. Essentially they have these casino machines that recycle very old races that were actually run and people can bet on them. It's parimutuel also. I'll have to dig up the link

@Adam @Homebrewer

This actually sounds pretty interesting.

Get ready for horse racing, Formula One-style

gotta admit, i was looking forward to reading an article about how the horses were now going to race on some kind of meandering track with the black & white markers defining the track instead of just in an oval. i'm a little disappointed.

@gotbeer you gotta Derby list going yet?

Right now I'm all about boxing the Bafferts.

1. McKenzie

2. Solomini

I have a futures bet on mcKenzie, and my buddy has one on Solomini.  Looks like another bomber got a spot in the derby in the Fountain of Youth.  If you don't already, this is by far the best tracking site for points and races.

I use it every year to take a look at my future bets.

I'm in toss mode right now.

Good Magic won't even be in the gate IMO. I think he got a perfect trip in the BC. Solomini did all the dirty work and the other contenders were either on a dead rail or 10 wide.

I'm not really into Bolt D'Oro either, but I'll reserve judgement. I'm guessing this weekend he misses the break and finishes a distant 2nd or 3rd.

Catholic Boy and Avery Island look pretty good to me.

I like that Romans horse who won the FOY though. Thought he ran great but I want to see what he does in a different pace scenario before I consider him.

@Adam  This year feels like last year.  Just nothing stands out.  Maybe it's the Pharoah high, in which you expect the three year old to win everything.  But this year just seems to be shaping up to be 3 different winners in the Triple Crown races, if you know what I mean.

You have a phony luckball in Good Magic. You have a tremendous horse in Bolt d'Oro who may have peaked too soon. Missed works. Doesn't break well. I'm sure we'll see someone emerge in the remaining preps. That said, I'm with you. I don't think there's a TC threat in this group unless its Justify and he's a total gamble after just one race.
