New Bond coming up. I've been a fan of the Daniel Craig reboot...especially the fact it's been a tad bit darker and less campy. Looks like SPECTRE is going to be involved, seeing as that is the title of the movie.

Why The James Bond Franchise Isn't Goofy Anymore Edited by gotbeer

Casino Royale and Skyfall weren't just good Bond films, they were excellent films no matter what.

I really kind of hate just about every other Bond film, no matter the actor.  Austin Powers was supposed to be a parody, but in reality, it wasn't far off from most of the stuff in the actual Bond films themselves.

Really looking forward to this because Mendes is still at the helm, and I expect Waltz to be every bit as interesting a villain as Javier Bardem was.  And I look forward to seeing Ralph Fiennes develop as M as well.

Cristoph Waltz has just exploded since Inglorious Basterds. Understandably, because he's good at his craft.

Skyfall was my favorite of the Bond films. I watch all these for entertainment but after I'm done watching them I really can't remember them all that well. So a couple years later I can watch them again and I might remember parts of the film I can still really enjoy them because I don't know what's coming next.

Still never seen a Bond movie. Tempted but I am consumed by my streak

I was kind of similar. I didn't watch my first Bond until two years ago when I saw Casino Royale, Skyfall, and the first 3.

Last month, I decided to actually start from the beginning again, and try to go through them all. Only about a third of the way through after seeing Diamonds Are Forever. They are fun movies, with great music and interesting characters and actors.

The original three, I would say are a good starting point as pretty much all the staples of the franchise are introduced in the first three movies. And On Her Majesty's Secret Service is underrated and awesome.

Haha. I plan to not skip any. I've actually heard a lot of mixed things about the Dalton  ones. License to Kill seems be mostly negative but I've heard a lot of love for The Living Daylights. I've heard mostly that the Dalton movies were typically really dark and off putting.

The feeling I get though, outside of GoldenEye, is that the Brosnan era is the one I should be most leery about.

dalton always came across as an arrogant prick. he wasn't good at being serious, like connery, nor did he have the charm of roger moore. he always looked like he way overestimated his own importance, and his acting reflected that.

i liked brosnan. he had charm and whimsy, but also was good at taking the role seriously.

For any podcast listeners that don't have enough podcasts to listen to already, I'd recommend checking out the James Bonding podcast with Matt Gourley and Matt Mira: http://www.nerdist.com/podcast_channel/james-bonding-channel/

Two huge Bond fan comedians covering each film one by one. They usually go like a month between episodes but they are fun to listen to. This is what actually motivated me to start going through all the Bond movies.

Yeah, I wasn't that into Skyfall either. The series though is one of my favorites. Even the ones I don't like compared to other Bond flicks are still good watches.

Around 2006 our account execs gave us a shitload of Best Buy gift cards and I didn't know how to use them so I bought the recently released (at the time) James Bond boxed sets where they updated the visuals, etc.

Haven't really got into the boxed sets because the series is one that is a great remote dropper whenever I see one of the flicks on the guide...usually on Spike or one of the movie channels.
