Damn it. Today is not the day to have food poisoning. I have two turkeys to smoke tomorrow, 18 people coming to my house and a ton of good food to eat. Right now I am spending my thanksgiving eve between the bed and the head.

Meanwhile at the Starbucks.

Obese woman orders two Venti Caramel chilled Machiato with extra carmel and whipped cream. There is so much caramel you can't see what else is in the cups.

She smells of cheap waxy lipstick and this is from about five feet away. I have the displeasure of having her sit next to me as she gulps down the drinks making snorting and mumbling noises while staring at her phone. She just called the Starbucks if they could find salt, she wants some salt and they didn't have any but she wants some so when they find it she will walk back to the counter for it. Then she burped and hung up.

I am on hour 10 of meetings over the last week for a contingency plan that is not likely ever to be invoked.  I totally appreciate contingencies and I don't disagree that this one is important, but I have personally spent 10 hours meeting about it and I have four people who work for me on this full time for the last two weeks on something that will probably never be used.

Update: Contingency not needed.  About 90 hours and $150k (just for my team) wasted.

 

My life is meetings.  I spend at least 6 hours a day in meetings but usually closer to 8-9.

we had a 2 hour delay to school starting, started the day with an assembly, and are ending the day with an assembly. 

 

what does that add up to?  14 minute periods.
