Congrats on the award? But it still means nothing. Only the managers that have a lot of talent to work with have a chance to win this subjective award.

How do we know that the best manager in baseball wasn't someone that managed a lousy team?

He did.

I wonder if there's any fanbase that absolutely loves their team's manager. It seems like most fans, no matter which team they follow, are jaded toward their manager because they witness all the day-to-day details of the season.

There probably aren't any. In any sport.

People remember the poor decisions more-so than the good ones. We are negative nancies by nature.

Can you give me another example of Sosh making a stupid bunt decision....other than Calhouns in game 1

I wasn't the one bringing up the total number of sac bunts each team had... and thinking that proved something without context, though. Some bunts are justified. The one Scioscia called for sure wasn't.

It was not the proper call. Scioscia bunts too often. As a whole Sosh is a great manager but he has his deficiencies.

It was absolutely the right call ... Joe Maddon and every manager in baseball makes that call.

Even Ned Yost makes that call!

That bunt had nothing to do with the end result of that series.

The pitching was solid but the biggest fails were the usual suspects.

1B Hosmer .400 / 2hrs / 4rbi's / 1.638ops >>>>>>> 1B Pujols .167 / 1hr / 2rbi's / .647ops

LF Gordon .300 / 0hrs / 4rbi's / .962ops >>>>>> LF Hamilton .000 / 0hrs / 1rbi / .000ops

He does it fairly often so they don't stick out usually.  Plus, he isn't the only manager that does.  Most of them are not hired/fired for their in game decisions.

This one was a doozy. Early August at Texas.  Angels were 5 games back. 1st inning.  Trout on 2nd, nobody out.  Torii Hunter may have done it himself.  Sure hope Scioscia told him how stupid it was if so... but I highly doubt it.  http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TEX/TEX201208020.shtml

Sosh deserves as much credit as any manager deserves. The reality is ehen players do their job, it makes managers look better. So sosh should get due credit for keeping the team focused while overcoming some tough breaks, but its the players who prevailed.

That said, i cant see why hes at fault for this or any other playoff series. He didnt tell the best player in baseball to not show up. He didnt tell the best offense in baseball to get shut down. He didnt pull strings to lose richards and have to go with cj, etc.

The players won 98 games on their own, with sosh doing whatever managers do. They lost in 3 to the royals with sosh doing whatever managers do.

Did you forget Trout and Kendrick?

Trout had a negative impact ... Cowgill in center may have been better. This is not a knock on him because he is the best player in the game.

Series is over ... no need to point fingers. You win or lose as a team.

Please put Trout numbers up there. After all he is supposed to be the leagues MVP. Not Pujols or Hamilton.

So you can't find another one this year?

All you can say he does it so often they don't stick out.

Since it happened 29 times all year long don't you think you could remember one?

He does it fairly often so they don't stick out usually. Plus, he isn't the only manager that does. Most of them are not hired/fired for their in game decisions.
