Never thought I'd hear someone say that about anybody but Tiger. The Open isn't my favorite. Early start time (here). Dreadful weather. Tiger will be able to take a lot of irons and 3/5 woods off of the tee. He should absolutely contend this year.

I don't think Speith wins it either but I will say this.  With the talent out there on the PGA, I think that a player winning the grand slam in one calendar year would be about the most significant sports acheivement ever.

I'm probably just being a myopic Tiger fan, but he was shaping his iron shots beautifully this past weekend. There are 9 PAR 4s 425 yards or shorter. He's not going to need to take the driver out of the bag all that much at St. Andrews. He's won there twice before. He's going to be right there on Sunday.

I would agree with that but it will be windy which will require him to use a different swing than he did last week.

i have this weird image of rory limping around st. andrews wearing a boot/cast around his leg and trying to break par. i wonder if pga rules would allow him to play in some sort of cast. anyone know?

btw, there's a show on the golf channel called altered course. contestants have really tough conditions under which they have to play, like finishing a hole in under three minutes and so on. i've watched a little bit of it and liked it. anyone seen it yet? it's on tonight in about half an hour.

I've seen the commercials and thought it looked kinda lame, but since it has the tank stamp of approval I will now check it out
