In defense of the family, this is standard. And its standard because of the myriad of ambulance chasing attorneys who contact these families to do this. The formula is simple, ask for an amount of money thats silly, and make the court fees more expensive. End result is to get the city to settle out of court or less money than it would cost to defend the allegations.

This one in particular kills me because between the witness testimony and forensic evidence, the cop did nothing wrong, brown did. And yet someone still has the gall to say someone owes the family money.

Really hope the DA out there files robbery charges on the mom, even though he/she wont because of the political shitstorm it would cause. For anyone not familiar, read up on the story about the mom and her family vs the stepmom and her t shirt stand a few months back...
