Man sues doctors for mocking him while he was unconscious

Recommended Posts

At least he had doctors he could understand or maybe had someone translate the audio. Really who cares if they were talking crap? As long as they performed the procedure well and got the job done. This is the kind of crap that causes the high malpractice insurance rates.

Everybody is looking for a way to cash in. The physician at work and I have had this discussion several times - how you can do everything right and still have a negative outcome. Then the patient or family wants to sue because of the result. A mentality of entitlement and a quick road to riches every time someone does something you don't like has become pervasive in this country.

It doesn't help that every other ad on television seems to be from a law firm who claims that they can help you cash in on this or that; the 1-800-BAD-DRUG crowd and so forth. If we eliminated every drug with a potential negative side effect, there wouldn't be any left on the market.

There is one lawyer in Las Vegas who uses the slogan, "In a wreck, need a check?" In his latest television ad he is shown beaming brightly, holding a symbolic check made out to "Injured Driver" for $1 million. I am sure that the implied message is not lost on those wanting to get rich for doing nothing, and that this lawyer gets a lot of business because of his implied impeccable record of success at making his clients wealthy instantaneously.

There are times when there is legitimate negligence, and when these occur and people are genuinely injured as a result, there ought to be compensation. However, every negative outcome should not mean a financial windfall - and in the instance of the man with the current complaint, I don't see any damage done at all. This should be dismissed, pronto.
