Daniel Murphy takes paternity leave

Recommended Posts

I listen to Boomer every morning, and he usually does not put his foot in his mouth like this. He came on this morning (Friday 4/4) and took back everything he said. He sincerely apologized for what he said, admitted he was wrong, and called the Murphys to personally apologize.

At least he owned up to it and admitted his mistake.

There are a lot of other A-holes held in higher esteem that never admit to being wrong. (the guy who comes on 3 hours after Boomer's show)

Boomer's a dinosaur, and the US is really backwards when it comes to parental leave. I'm not sure about paternal, but in many Western European countries mothers get three YEARS of maternity leave. But that's too socialist for us hardworking 'mericans who would rather see our taxes go to unnecessary military spending and corporate tax breaks.

I'm glad you said this, AJ. My wife is from one of these countries and we just recently had our first. She went back to work a couple weeks ago, and fortunately we have her mother here helping us with our son for a couple months, otherwise it would be off to daycare at 10 weeks. That's way too young to be placing your most precious in the hands of strangers.

I just see Boomer as a typical football player. You miss a game in football, especially as a QB and you miss 6.25% of the season. You miss three baseball games you miss less than 2% of the games. He is not in tune with the reality of today, where fathers are their for the birth of their child. It's ok to miss a few days of work to be there to witness your kid being born. As for taking four weeks off for bonding time, yea, I don't know if I agree with that. I took one week off with each child, and I guess another week would have been nice, but a month might be excessive.

and their economies are kicking ass too.  Actually I would rather see me taxes go to running our infratstructure and that's about it.  The rest I'd prefer to be able to use to help people as I see fit.

haha. Yeah I'm glad I don't have to pay for your wives to take 3 years off of work. How about you choose as a family whether you want to have 2 incomes and lots of stuff or 1 income and less stuff or no income and be bums?

Never get this argument.  If you want to stay home with your kid beyond the 10 weeks then the woman can quit her job and be supported by the husband or the other way around.

But then they can only have one TV and would have to cut cinemax and eat out less.

If I took 2 months off of my job, well, I would then have to find another job. However, about 5 years ago, they gave me a one month sabbatical with full pay and an extra $5k to just have a good time with. Yea, I have a pretty awesome employer.

Why didn't you go through with the sex change again?
