Or it could be that Putin knows this might piss off enough to trigger an invasion.  It would suck for Russia if all the good stuff was in Ukraine with nothing to protect the motherland.

We have them as well. And we sell them to foreign countries stripped of their best electronics. Same as Russia does. 

So far the Russians have been running with their older equipment rather than risk the new stuff while they deplete the Ukraines fighting resources. It would look good if their world beater SU-57 is dropped by a lucky SAM. Have to protect the propaganda war.

The F-22 was produced in the 90s, the F-35s currently. 

 

Everything else, like the F-16s and 15s, came online in the late 70s..... newer airframes and avionics, but theyre still old
