  1. Funny thing happened on the way to an Angels victory. And I dozed off and missed it. The Texas Sweep play is still intact. I don't even wanna know how that happened, but when I scrolled through the final 24 posts I noticed something about Quijada and pitch selection. And that explained everything. I missed the Angels taking a lead and then missed how they gave it all back. I'm looking forward to the finale, which I assume will be Angels Loss No. 99. I know the following is a broken record, but ... GO ANGELS!!! DON'T GET SWEPT INTO 2025. Angels Baseball 2024.
  2. Missed the Angels 7 runs. I should go out more often. It's not ironclad, but it looks like there will be no final series sweep.
  3. What would a Canning start be without at least one pitch landing in the seats? So tonight's count is 1 so far. On to the bottom of the second.
  4. Didn't have much to say after the 3-run Texas first. 160 games in the books for 2024. Just two left to reach 99 Angels losses. GO ANGELS!!! DON'T GET SWEPT INTO THE OFFSEASON!!!
  5. Thank goodness the Angels won that finale against Houston. Right now, that 100 would be looming large otherwise. Swept by the White Sox!!! In a shutout no less.
  6. Sad day in the East Bay. A once-glorious franchise that won 4 world series out of the 5 it had been in since leaving KC closed up shop today and will head to an indefinite stay in a 14,000-seat open air AAA field in Sacramento where it will share alternating homestands with the River Cats. Not that the Coliseum was anything worthy of MLB after the Raiders got through mutillating the place. That was a million-dollar view of the Oakland Hills which got replaced by that NFL monstrosity. And of course, there were the plumbing problems as the decades went by. I used to see most Angels' weekend visits to that place when I lived in the Central Valley. The Halos won many of them. Hill Street Blues theme played the fans out of the place when the visitors won while "Celebration" marked a home win.
  7. GO ANGELS!!!! HISTORY AWAITS EITHER WAY!!! If Chicago wins today, Detroit will almost certainly hand the Sox losses 121, 122 and maybe even 123. The sole survivors of the 1962 Mets -- Jay Hook and Craig Anderson -- might have mixed feelings about that record getting eclipsed. But maybe they're happy to hand down the all-time record for frustration. Update: Both say they would not wish that failure on any other ballplayer. If the Angels prevail today, Texas will likely give them losses 96, 97 and maybe 98. Territory no Angels team has ever visited since they began in 1961.
  8. Angels fans are well into our annual Recrimination Season. But really, this outcome was well-advertised in advance during the previous offseason. We all watched Mr. 50-50 migrate up the I-5 a few miles to a certainty of getting into postseason. We saw a couple of bullpen signings and shrugged. We saw RW take a decent MLB pitcher and try to make him into a rotation, with some guyw we've ground our teeth over during previous seasons. The only consistent thing was the inconsistency. We watched Drury become Matt Joyce or Andy Romine. Or Kaleb Cowart. Oh, there's way to much to mention here. Angels Baseball 2024. It ends Sunday afternoon. GO ANGELS 2025!!!!
