| In the event we were to sign him, I think a lot of people on here would go from "the sky is falling" to "we have the best team in baseball." I would assume anyone being rational would understand that there is middle ground between the two positions and still penty of offseason to reach that middle ground. |

Location: Southern Cal | I'd rather get Hamilton as well. Trade Trumbo/Bourjos for a strong 2 or soft 1 starter.
With that said, I hope the Angels are in this just to keep the bidding war going between LAD/TEX. Let them overpay through the roof. |

| IMO, I think the Angels have offered something like a 5/$100 with 2 option years that could become vesting for $140 million total. They aren't going to go higher.
Doggies have probably topped it with a 7/$160.
Rangers are setting up their offer.
I think Greinke isn't comfortable playing for the Doggies with all the money they are floating around. If he was, he would have taken the deal already.
In the end, I think Greinke takes the deal with us for a lower amount. He has seen that Dipoto has shored up the pen, and sees that the starting pitching, with him as the final piece, should also be solid and is already familiar to him. Plus the offense is more than capable.
He is also not worried about pitching in a neutral pitching field, which is why I think he may pass up on the Rangers for the same high amount. That would be adding too much pressure on him, just like the big market Doggies pressure would be on him.
So after saying all that. He'll probably not sign with us. |

| I think the upton 3 team trade has too many moving parts with too many really smart GMs to get done. I'm for the Hamilton signing and then flip Bourjos for a starter but if we could get Greinke we would have a solid rotation.

Actually it doesn't sound like his wife is from Texas, they apparently met in high school in Florida.
But ya, not looking good.

Tex nucleus and farm system also plays a big part in this. Part of the reason he turned down the Nats $100M offer 3 years ago was due to their farm at the time. |

| If he signs for $160 million it will not be the Angels signing him. Come to think of it I doubt Texas would go that high. I truly think you will see him go for about $100-$120 million over 5 or 6 years, and if that is the case then we have a good shot at signing him. |
