Can confirm that #Angels are acquiring P Tommy Hanson from #Braves ... it appears reliever Jordan Walden will be going to Atlanta.

Alden Gonzalez
The #Braves will be getting #Angels RP Jordan Walden in return for Tommy Hanson. Straight-up deal.

My guess is Walden.

That would be awesome. Hope it's not one of our top prospects or Trumbo though.

Angels need starters. Tommy hanson helps. Still neeed 1 or 2 more.

Why is Heyman such a dick??? His first response isn't "nice move", it's "they still have work to do".

If we get 2009-2011 Tommy Hanson, it's a steal. If it's 2012 Tommy Hanson. Not so sure. But it's a move.

Ok, so we traded Walden, who lacked control and would have been relegated to the 6th inning this coming year, for a starter that is young, pretty good and still has upside?

Walden has a lot of upside but Butcher was never going to fix him. Walden needs to change his delivery and get rid of the little hop. His delivery is way too complex to repeat effectively.

As long as Hanson is healthy its a great trade regardless. The Hanson of a couple years ago was solid and yes he had his struggles last year but hey just means we have ourselves another Santana!

Love this trade personally!

The nice thing is, we just added a quality SP without adding any payroll. So this shouldn't affect the Greinke signing.

Just saw Hanson's velocity charts....I don't think I would suggest doing that.

Hopefully his shoulder isn't totally ground beef at this point.

i cant complain since we got him so cheap, but this kind of reminds me of a lesser version of the kazmir trade. shoulder problems and velocity decline, hopefully he's healthy. but we got him for virtually nothing so whatever

That's the key...is he healthy?....the Braves rarely make a bad trade....Sheurholtz and now Wren know how to evaluate their players...

OK, I guess there are concerns with Hanson - I didn't realize his trend had been so downward, but still. At worst he's a league average starter, at best he can be "fixed" and can become a #2.

I really like this move either way.

I like it. Walden always made me uneasy when he took the mound. Only thing that scares me is Hanson's dimishing velocity at such a young age...
