![]() Hall of Fame Posts: 7405 | yeah, Madson did close for Philly after their closers went down -- he was primarily a set up guy before that. so, he's our guy now -- hope he does well......... but with the signing of Madson it seems that the Pujols contract has sort of done to us what some folks here feared -- after spending all that dough on a ten year contract for Pujols, we're now akin to a small/ mid-market team with respect to off-season acquisitions to fill out the needs on the roster....... Madson's fine, but we did get him relatively cheap on a one year 'career rehab' year..........a 'career rehab' year follows a 'physical rehab' year where the player needs to prove to MLB owners he's healthy, back, and effective so that the player can collect a big pay day in the next (2014) off-season F/A derby.......so the team gets him for a decent price on a somewhat low risk, high reward flyer......and if he does well, well he's gone to the highest bidder. So it's one year stop gap.

Hall of Fame Posts: 10189 | Also, there is something very wrong about Isringhausen ever being listed among notable free agents.

![]() Hall of Fame Posts: 7405 | Isringhausen had some pretty good years with St. Louis among others........he did OK at times for us -- but seemed to really lose it in the second half. Look, the Halos went low budget (some say cheap) on the pen depth last season and they turned to Isringhausen as part of the pen patrol. He had some good outings but was found lacking and ineffective as the season wore on........well, we got what we paid for. at least it wasn't a flop like Justin Speier a few years back, a guy we spent a lot of money on for pen depth and ended up DFA'ing him and eating at least a half a season (if not more) of a pretty sizeable contract.

![]() San Bernadino 66'ers Posts: 455 | the pujols contract has nothing to do with signing madson on the cheap. pujols makes 16 million this year (i think) and the angels payroll will be around 150+ million. pujols isn't even the highest paid angel this year. we signed madson, because we've got the lion's share of a rotation to fill and a piss poor bullpen that needs a serious infusion of talent. Cedar Rapids (Low-A) Posts: 317 | tdawg87 - 2012-11-28 2:17 PM This is an amazing deal. I can't see how anyone could find fault with it. Not only does it address the pen, but leaves them plenty of room to further address it. THIS

Hawkins OR Isringhausen....fine Hawkins AND Isringhausen.....I knew right then there was going to be a major problem. Being vets with Scioscia, I really didn't think either of them would make it to the ASB. I figured he (Scioscia) would ride them, and he did. It is to both of their credit that they made it as far into the season as they did!

San Bernadino 66'ers Posts: 497 | MS was our bullpen issue. He mismanaged the pen ad naseum. Jepsen should be the closer. EF / JW / SD / NM re a good enough core. I would add arms from the farm, give the kidsa look. Adding an injury riddled arm with big bucks just usually means NO motivation.

June 10th, 2010 Dr. Yocum on Kendry Morales “I saw him today and he’s doing well,” Yocum said. “It’ll probably be another three weeks or so — make sure everything is glued together tight — then he’ll start to work on getting range of motion back.” Edited by ToriiTown 2012-11-29 6:53 PM
