Orem Owlz Posts: 135 Location: Baton Rouge LA | Frazier had a good game against the Rockies... 2/4 (1B and 2B)/(GO4 and FO6). I hope to make it to Phoenix tonight (delayed in Minneapolis) for a good night's rest and to catch his game tomorrow (if I get everything I need to do done).

Orem Owlz Posts: 135 Location: Baton Rouge LA | OK... left Phoenix today... and Frazier is officially "CR" for the start of the season. He is comfortable (and trusting the organization) with CR and looking forward to making application of all the good stuff that the organization have invested in him. The better news about CR for me is... I actually work in Chicago and will get to see him play the Kane County Cougars with very little effort (other than Chicagoland traffic!) My wife has put me on notice that when CR play KC... she will be with me on that business trip.

Orem Owlz Posts: 135 Location: Baton Rouge LA | On my way back from Palm Springs (to LAX) I stopped off in IE to drive around the stadium... pretty cool situation. I look forward to both Frazier making it to IE and the beer... it just has to be after the All-Star game... because it is in Kane County (IL), and I will be in Chicago at that time. The only wild card is... Frazier has to make the All-Star Team.

Orem Owlz Posts: 135 Location: Baton Rouge LA | You beat me to it... Frazier did go 2/4 with a Walk (1-Walk, 2-Double RBI, 3-K, 4-Ground Out, and 5-Double RBI) against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The Kernels won 7-2 in their (on the road) season opener in a chiller 39 degrees (at game end).

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers had a (extremely) hard shift on him and pitched him inside. New day on Monday... the home opener against the Clinton Lumber Kings.

Orem Owlz Posts: 135 Location: Baton Rouge LA | All I know and can say is that Frazier is able and willing to do whatever the organization wants... and they have him tracking at 1B currently. And... "Yes" he has a strong and healthy throwing arm. He is trusting in the leadership and the process... and I am sure he would appreciate the warmer temperatures and shorter bus rides of IE.

All-Star Posts: 1875 Location: California | Not a hitting friendly environment. His numbers are bound to climb next year in the Cal League, though not as much as one would think given that Inland Empire is the only pitcher friendly park in the league. I don't know whether or not Frazier will hit enough to stay at 1B, but if he learns another position like catcher or corner OF, I think it would go a long way in helping him make it to the majors.

Orem Owlz Posts: 135 Location: Baton Rouge LA | THREAD: This thread has been inactive for a long time so I thought I would bump it. THREAD: Frazier Hall has been struggling at CR this year .253/.318/.367/.685. THREAD: Does anyone have any thoughts/comments on him? RESPONSE: I figured that I would jump back in again. Yes, Frazier Hall struggled. There were a number of factors, but he has been steadily working his way back. Frazier’s defense has been solid. He is pushing the top of the list in a number of categories (#2 in BA, Tied for #1 in HRs with 13, #2 in RBIs, #1 in OBP and #2 in OPS). He was named the best hitter for CR in June and August could be another good month for him. The last 10 games he is batting .324, and has had 4 HRs. Whatever the “number of factors” were… his metal was tested… and I think he is on the upswing for a passing grade. I was told that his TPPA (Team Productive Plate Appearances) were solid. A number of “Rovers” were in CR last night and were pleased with his performance. The jury is out… and August will tell the story. FYI... Frazier Hall's Walk off Hit- May 27, 2012: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_4ey3ohd4w THREAD: I hope he bounces back over the last part of this year and next year RESPONSE: I think that he is learning that pro baseball is very different from college baseball. In college baseball he just went out and did it, and probably never truly knew why it worked the way it worked. However, in pro baseball he is expected to understand why it works, and how it works, when it works and when it doesn’t work. He is developing into a “student of the game”. THREAD: His walk rate has really improved 7.9% and strikeouts are down to 15% which is good news. The batting average and slugging is what is down. RESPONSE: Yes both BB and SO is going in the right direction. If you look at those factors and look at that he is leading CR in hits and doubles… that supports the thinking that he is rebounding. Plus, he has hit about 21+ balls to the wall/warning track with outstanding OF plays to retire him (hats tipped to the OF). A number of the teams have put a hard shift on him and will play the 2B in shallow RF and pitch him inside. All that said means only one thing… don’t hit the ball to people standing with gloves on their hands and you will get on base. THREAD: Not a hitting friendly environment. RESPONSE: The MidWest League is pitcher friendly and the air is very thick too. Those Midwest winds blowing in don’t help matters either. But, it is what it is… you have to adjust and make things happen. RESPONSE: As for moving positions. Frazier is not focused on the “stockpile of talent” ahead of him, instead he focused on learning the game. He truly believe that a gift will make room for itself, and if he is focused on being a student of the game and giving every ounce of his heart and soul to the game, then he believes that everything will take care of itself. He just hopes that it is with the Angels. RESPONSE: As for another position, he was a catcher most of life, and behind the dish in college for his freshman and sophomore years. As a junior and senior he was moved to first base (and played third base too) to protect his bat. He was told this spring training to cut some weight and work on his speed in the event that he could be moved to the outfield. He is ready and willing to play any position that the Angels want him to play (but they are keeping him at 1B). I think Frazier would even sell popcorn between innings if they wanted (LOL).

Orem Owlz Posts: 135 Location: Baton Rouge LA | No real news on Frazier Hall... but thought I would give you an update. Frazier has had a very productive off season... He has been hanging around (working out, hitting, fielding and deer hunting) with a number of MLBers and MiLBers here in the Baton Rouge area. Frazier's little brother has been his "P90X" coach (and taking great pleasure with delivering "pain" and "suffering" to Frazier), and results (body shape and strength) have been produced. Frazier has been hitting every night for the past 45+ days and comfortable that his Orem Owlz .355 swing is back... and his CR Kernels (imposed) .258 swing is a thing of the past. Frazier will be reporting to the Dbacks at the end of this month (a little early) and is ready to compete against a fellow Pioneer League All Star for a job. Good luck to the Angels... they should be something special this coming season.
