on the road. Angels scored 362 and the Rangers scored 357.

I don't think this point has been brought up enough here. I'm not saying that the 2011 Angel's offense was better than the Ranger's, but was the Ranger's really that much better? The Angels also had 9 more HR's, Texas had the better OBP by about 10 points.

2010 - Apparently each team scored the exact same number of runs on the road!? 362 for the Angel's, 357 for the Rangers. Angels had 17 more HR's, Rangers had 15 points better OBP.

I refer to it as The Gazebo at Arlington.

Both years their increase in OBP was entirely from a higher average. Texas had a 15 point higher away average in 2010 and 12 points better in 2011.

If Tim Salmon had played out his career as a Ranger he would have been a first ballot Hall of Famer this year.

Career numbers in Arlington .378 avg .481 obp .665 slg 1.146 ops. That is better than Vlad and Vlad killed the Rangers. That is as good as Bonds steroid years.

Kinsler = proof positive that Arlington = Coors Canaveral.

Kinsler is to the AL as CarGo is to the NL. Great home hitter, mediocre road hitter

Texas has a better offensive team for sure, but that stadium is a joke.

It only means that as bad as the Angels offense was last year, they for some reason were one of the best run scoring teams on the road (7th best). The Rangers were also a good scoring team on the road (9th best).

The Rangers obviously kill it at home but they actually had a better line in Anaheim than they did in Arlington.

If having a small home ballpark is the key to success, then why doesn't everybody have one. TBIA's size never mattered when Texas sucked...

Never said that. Just said their offense is overrated. At the same time you have to give more props to their pitching.

Interesting stay. I wonder if this discrepancy was a 1 year aberration or part of a historical trend.

Yes, it kind of sucks that only the RANGERS are allowed to him in Arlington. The Rangers get to bat for 9 innings - and the road team never gets up to bat to take advantage of that BALLPARK.

Think about it, dude allowed ONLY 12 HRs in 2011 despite pitching half of the time in that bandbox.
The only question with him (other than slight inverted W) is his control, which can escape him sometimes.

Rangers have a 115 wRC+ since 2000, 88 away.

2RC+ is park and league adjusted.

The Angels have an identical 99 wRC+ home and away since 2000.

-----
Either wRC+ doesn't penalize Arlington enough (doubtful) or the Rangers have built teams specifically for that ballpark (more probable). Nevertheless, it is a very, very bizarre discrepancy for the Rangers' team offense.

He's a ground ball pitcher, so he needs a good defense behind him (which TX has, and LAA also has). He should have a good run here.

Yeah, because when the Rangers sucked, they had one player. And signed him for a quarter of a billion dollars thinking that they were one player away from competing. Decisions like that caused the previous ownership to go bankrupt.

The Rangers dominant pitching last year also doesn't get brought up enough.

More reason why they needed to upgrade OBP at 1B and C and why sticking with Callaspo at 3B will be good.
CJ Wilson benifets more from Callaspo at 3B and would suffer the most if Trumbo plays 3B.
