needs to be released. There's no reason to hold onto him.

He should've been released a while ago.

Hopefully Kohn takes his place!

14 BB in 11+ innings pitched with a .355 opposing BA against him (per Terry Smith).

I really like Kohn, too, but unfortunately he probably needs another year in the minors.

He's dominating AA. His career K/9 in the minors is 15 (!) Why not give him a shot? I don't think he can do any worse than Stokes. I think he could be a solid contributor right away to this pen.

Kohn has the highest career K/9 in the minors with a minimum of 100 innings pitched.

We need Stokes. He has already assumed the role of designated mop-up pitcher. Kind of like Speier was last year.

I guess he can mop-up after the mop-up. It's not like Stokes would be able to get 3 outs in a single inning.

As much as I can't stand his homerisms, Hawk Harrelson would put it best about this loser pitcher!
He gone!

Kohn needs to be at SLC real soon. Being a former college pitcher, he can handle quicker promotions.
K-Rod started 2002 at AA, and look at what he did eventually.

The nuclear fallout resulting from trying to squeeze any value out of the GMJ contract continues to haunt the Angel. And sadly, Shields fat salary was his only job security. We would have been much better off with a couple of minor league pitchers making the team.

they can't send him to the minors without clearing waivers first, which given his performance thus far seems like an absolute impossibility.

there just isn't any reason to keep running him out there right now.

the other side of the coin may be that whoever they want to replace him (bell or sos or whoever) just isn't ready to come up yet.

The stoke phenomenon happen quite a bit across baseball. Guy throws mid nineties and each team that has him sees the arm and the movement on his ball and just can't fathom him not having success. The light may go on at some point, but it's unlikely to happen with the halos.

As for Mike Kohn, my guess is that they will keep him down and hidden for as long as possible this season with the thought of bringing him up in late sept. We may need him sooner than that, but if we can make the playoffs without him, you may see him as a late add on.

Now I know this is unlikely, but Oliver's ERA at this point in his first season with us was worse than Stokes, it was 8.64.

He can maybe turn it around >_>

But probably not, he sucks.

That would be the ONLY hope, because DO also struggled in the past until he got here. Granted DO was a starter fulltime until the mid 2000s, while Stokes has always relieved up here.
DO also came from the Mess and had a decent ERA in the mid 3.00s. Stokes though was horrible on the road in 2009, and only did anything because of Citi Field's dimensions.

I don't believe he has even had 1 good outing so it makes no sense to keep him on the roster. he's been in the majors long enough to be able to pitch so there are no excuses.

He's allowed runs of his own in 6 of his 15 outings (I didn't check inherited runners). His last 3 have been catastrophic, though: 3 2/3 IP, 11 R (8 ER), 11 H, 6 BB, 2 K, for a robust 19.64 ERA.

Uh, no one? At least as it relates to Rivera. What does Rivera have to do with anything? If GMJ were here, he still wouldn't be starting over Juan. GMJ is currently "hitting" a cool .140/.229/.186 with zero RBI in 43 AB.
