Ryan, who started the 2010 season with the Angels' Class AAA affiliate at Salt Lake City (Pacific Coast League), was informed Los Angeles had purchsed his contact this morning and was to join the Angels at Seattle for the start of a weekend series against the Mariners."

| what's the point? Maybe Izzy going on the DL, with Ryan potentially getting some time at 3rd or something?? Though it looks like he hasn't played a significant amount of time at 3rd since 1998...I just don't see him getting any time in the OF rotation.

| This guy sounds like an excellent bench player, can't wait to see him play.
This guy had an 1195 OPS in 2003 with the twins in 27 games, so it's not like he can't hack it. Granted it was 27 games and that was 7 years ago, but he wasn't terrible in ST either. |

This guy had an 1195 OPS in 2003 with the twins in 27 games, so it's not like he can't hack it. Granted it was 27 games and that was 7 years ago, but he wasn't terrible in ST either.
...in 61 ABs. He followed that up with a .596 OPS in 188 ABs over the next two years in the majors. Combine that with wildly inconsistent years in AAA (back to back years of .839 and .852 OPS in the Pacific Coast League, then .694, .647, .804, .649, and .782 in consecutive years in the International League), and that's probably why he hasn't been given much of a shot.
He has done well in AAA since mid-2008, but he's back in the PCL and he's 30+ years old now, so he should do well in those circumstances.

| There are actually 42 players currently on the 40-man roster not including Ryan, and with only 38 of the players being active, I don't think they have to make any cuts just yet. |

42. But one is on the 60 day DL. So he doesn't count. 3 others are on the 15 day DL, and those still do count against the 40 man roster. So it's still at 41 on the 40 man. |

Just noticed Frandsen. Wonder if they made a mistake on him and he was signed to a minor league contract and not a big league contract? Because adding him to the 40 man would be a puzzling move. |

| Angels manager Mike Scioscia acknowledged that Maicer Izturis (shoulder) could go on the disabled list.
Izturis has been limited since the middle of April due to recurring soreness in his throwing shoulder, an injury he aggravated the injury during Monday's game against the Red Sox. "We're hopefully going to be able to see how it squares up in these next few days," said Scioscia. "Izzy is a guy you don't want to be without for any length of time." Izturis was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday. |

But that's always been his problem.
He can field, throw, run, and hit for power when making contact. Just can't make contact often enough. |
