We should coordinate the hotel and stuff so that we can share taxis or travel together

I think we're just going to go to Saturday's game and spend Friday checking out the city and Saturday night partying.

I'll be flying in Friday night and going to Sat and Sun games. Kind of sucks that Sun game is TBD so I'll have to get the last flight out of Chi Town. A few years ago I went with a bunch of friends. Some spent $40+ on taxi rides from the airport to the city. I took the train for $2 and they beat us by 20 min. Needless to say, we all took the train back to the airport. The public trans system there rocks. As for tix to the stadium, get them asap. It's a tiny park and looks even smaller in person so any seat is a good seat. Get there early and the usher's will let you walk around the stadium as long as you're in your seat by game time. I LOVE chicago and can't wait to go back! The food is great, the people are fun, and the girls are sloots (as long as you have swagger).

pattimelt - 2/4/2010 3:25 PM If we can get a count of people that need/want tickets and for what games, we MAY be able to get group tickets.. Well, we can TRY and get group tickets, at least.
LOL! There is no such thing as 'group tickets' at Wrigley.... unless you count finding the guy who has bought a whole section for season seats. I am proud to say that I have been to Wrigley more time than Chavez Latrine - this year will be my 10th, 11th, and 12th trip respectively. The only advice I can give you is that this is a case of 'every man (or woman) for himself.' If you can find tickets, get them. Don't wait. And don't worry about what they cost - just be happy that you have tickets. Don't think you are going to buy the cheap seats and move around either. These games will be sold out - even the standing room only sections. Just moving around the stadium is going to be a b*tch - but it will be worth it! As far as a good place to stay - stay downtown... walk and take the "L" or a taxi wherever you want to go. You will NOT find parking anywhere around Wrigley for less than $30. Take a cab from the airport (either one) and you are looking about $40 to downtown. You will save more than that in what it would cost for the rental car and parking at any hotel. If you like steaks and chops - there is only one place - its expensive, but it is BY FAR the best porterhouse I have ever had - Gibson's on Rush St. For REAL Chicago style pizza - Gino's East. You will be STUFFED on about a piece and a half. And for 'fun' you can always hit Ed DeBevick's.

effing obama.

I've only had layovers in Chicago. As much as it'd be cool to go to all 3 games, there's way to much to see and do.

Mets at Yankees, Dodgers at Red Sox also on that Sunday. I swear I saw a schedule that said a time. I may have been hallucinating, though.

Chicago is the best city in the US.....during the summer. I have been to a game in june where the temp got into the 30's. Luckily it's not usually like that. My wedding day was in june in Chicago the year before and it was in the high 70's and incredible.

Chitown is the best combo of people, party, food and fun. I lived there for 5yrs and go back 4-5 times per year to visit my wife's family.

I really really hope to be there for these games. I may have some access to tics but it might take a bit to know for sure.

Stay downtown as close to Michigan as possible. Near the loop and soldier is not convenient. Don't stay in the burbs unless there is access via the EL. Traffic is worse in chicago than anywhere I have seen. Basically one way in and one way out in each direction.

Things to do other than cubs/halos:
navy pier
millenium park
architecture tour on the chicago river (one of my favorites). Very nice on a warm day.
sears tower is ok, but I prefer the top of the hancock. Enjoy a $15 drink.
shedd aquarium
field museum
lincoln park zoo
great america (same as magic mountain and far)
any chicago street fair is great. Taste of Randolph is that weekend and awesome. Total party scene.

My favorite eats and drinks:
pizza - ginos is great and a deep dish landmark, but my favorite is Pequods in lincoln park. They have a carmelized crust and the best sauce. Not to far from wrigley
italian - gene and giorgetti's is an institution and pretty good but hard to get into. I prefer carmines or rosebud. spiaggia - super pricey but amazing. Francesca on taylor - awesome
beef sandwich - you have to try a chicago beef. Johnnies is the best. Elmwood park or Arlington heights suburbs. a bit of a trek but worth it. Get the fries as well. they rock. All other beef is weak sauce.
Got to try Pot belly. sooooo good. It's a chain now, but equivalent to in n out sandwich style.
Other sando places:
Jerry's - tons of selection and some crazy combos
Manny's - corned beef rocks
Jimmy Johns - good for a quick fix.
Perry's
Costellos

Late night:
Taco Burrito Palace #2. Don't ask just go there and get a steak burrito
Weiner Circle - best late night food ever. Seriously. Be sure to insult the person who take your order it tradtion.

Other eats:
Perennial
Chicago Chop House
Trotters and Tru - both insane and crazy expensive. A one time go but worth it.
Cafe Ba Ba Reeba - Tapas and great fun. Also try Cafe Iberico or Emilios
North Pond
Frontera Grill (Rick Bayless shop)
Everest - high end
Hot Doug's - great dogs
Sai Cafe - really great sushi
twin acres - classic rib joint in old town
Kuma's corner - burgers
Barley corn
Greek town - try the gyros late night.
Green Mill - good late night jazz. odd area.
Green Dolphin street. fun

Best Bars
Justin's
Volo in Roscoe Village
Goat hill
Irish Oak - small pub
Murphy's or Bernies
Mother's
Tavern on Rush
The Hangup (cheesy late night dancing)

I'll add more later as I think of them.

Ed Debevecs has the lamest and most annoying wait staff in the history of restaurants. A waste of time and money, IMO.

Cubs are allowing group tickets for Friday 6/18, 1:20pm. There is a minimum of 20 tix. There are two options:
A) Terrace Reserved Infield ($42) OR Terrace Reserved Outfield ($36)
B) Upper Deck Reserved Infield ($27) OR Upper Deck Reserved Outfield ($22)
There is a 12% tx added to all ticket prices. If I can get 20 people to confirm on either option, then I will front the money. They will be accepting mail in orders beginning Feb 10th. I want to get the order as close to that date to ensure our chances. I personally like option B since it looks like the organization will pick the ticket section. Here is the link for more info:
